NR 661 HB Rustgard
NR-661
HB RUSTGARD is a unique water-borne rust convertor
designed to utilize the surface moisture and oxygen while changing
the rusted area to an inert compound. The added benefit of
the prime coat is that it is salt resistant, non flamable with
an extremely low odour.
HIGH PERFORMANCE COATING
- NON-TOXIC, NON HAZARDOUS
- NON-FLAMMABLE
- DRY FILM FIRE RETARDANT
- EXTREMELY LOW PERMEABILITY FACTOR:
20-25g,M2/Mil/day
NR 661 HB RUSTGARD is a unique water-based corrosion system
for use on ferrous metal surfaces. The ferrous surface is converted
on contact to form a black, complex organic compound by utilizing
all the surface moisture and oxygen during the reduction reaction.
When dry it forms an impermeable barrier to oxygen and moisture.
TECHNICAL DATA
NR 661 RUSTGARD is a hard and soft cholopolmer
emulsion with chelating agents. Its colour is off-white, with
a mild odour. After application and chemical reaction, colour
changes to turquoise and dries to a black semi-gloss.

APPLICATION DATA
Temperature - Apply above 5°C.
(40°F.) and below 40°C. (105°F.)
Surface Preparation: Remove
all poorly adhered paint, scale, rust, dust, acid rain, oil
or grease or other contaminant using high pressure water
blast or wire brush and a detergent cleaner.
NR-661 RUSTGARD can be applied
to a damp surface. DO
NOT pour
NR 661 RUSTGARD into a metal container or return to the original
container.
NR-661 RUSTGARD can be brushed, rolled or sprayed - a second
coat may be necessary to assure that the profile of the metal
is completely covered.
Dry-Time First coat should be dry to touch within 45 minutes,
if second coat is needed - apply as soon as first coat is touch
dry.
Topcoat: Do not apply finish coat for at least 24 hours or
more to allow for some curing time - any water - finish is
recommended, however, a solvent based finish can be applied
- if compatible. TRI-TEC 986-8 Submersible Water\Based Finish
would make for a complete system.
Canadian Food Inspection Agency Approval File: T218.
